The Background:
Cornwall Services is the only major service station on the A30 between Exeter and Penzance. Phase 1 opened in 2014 and includes a BP filling station, an amenity building offering a range of food and drink concessions (including big brands as well as a Cornish food offering), a Co-op grocery store, a children’s soft play centre, toilets, Changing Places facility, washroom facilities for HGV drivers and dedicated parking areas for cars, HGVs and coaches. It has proved hugely popular with tourists and locals alike.
Phase 2 of the scheme saw the addition of the 71 bedroom hotel, with bar and breakfast area.
The Development:
The hotel is a franchise of Holiday Inn Express® and is the first of its kind in Cornwall. Its location at the halfway point of the A30 between Exeter and Penzance, makes it a handy stop-off for a wide range of both leisure and business travellers.
The Result:
The hotel build started in August 2018 and opened to the public in July 2020.
